Updated: Mar 23, 2023

Social media and the rapid dissemination of information have significantly contributed to the high workload now over businesses and their employees, demanding execution in a short period of time. Due to this overwhelming amount of work and responsibilities, stress is becoming an increasingly common physical and emotional state, which is concerning and needs practical measures to be taken.

Despite what people might think, and taking into consideration that a few persons can have more competency to manage it, stress management is only effective when based on a few practices that are easily implemented by the affected collaborator.

Workplace Stress

Recently, the pressure on employers have increased dramatically, and so is the demand on the employees' health, mental state and emotional wellbeing. Fight the problem with these simple strategies to destress, avoiding a more serious, chronic stress condition.

Recommendations for a stress-free work life

  • Do not be afraid to say NO. If you feel that the workload is too much for you, do not be afraid to speak up in a calm, polite, respectful way. The truth is always better than omissions that can cost your mental health.

  • Stressing out with things you cannot control is pointless. If you have collaborated in a certain project or task, move on to other things and wait for feedback or a follow-up. Worries will make things appear worse than they really are.

  • Stop wasting time with negative, toxic people. Being in touch with jealous, controlling people will slow you down and stress you out in the long run. Only spend the professionally required time with them, in order to get things done. This also applies to your personal life.

  • Plan your day. One of the most important time management skills you can have is planning. Plan everything you will do every day with the help of a calendar, datebook or planner; there are a lot of apps and online options to choose from.

  • If feeling overwhelmed, take a little break. Yes, you have a lot to do, but it will be done in a certain amount of time, take a 2-minute break if necessary.

At the end of the day, if you keep constantly feeling burned out, consider changing company, career or professional area. Your wellbeing is more important than an extremely demanding job.
